We are incredibly grateful for the tremendous support of our Stand Up To Cancer (SU2C) fundraisers hosting events all over the country. Unfortunately, due to the volume of these events, we cannot arrange for celebrities, scientists or representatives to participate in fundraising events.

Unfortunately, we do not have the resources to assist with funding, planning or executing your event. However, we created a Fundraising Toolkit that has ideas and suggestions to help you plan your event and make it your own.

Fundraising in memory or in honor of a loved one is a thoughtful way to remember or support someone who has been touched by cancer. To start a page please visit go here. Your page will go live immediately, and you can begin sharing the page with friends and family.

Updating supporters on your campaign is key to raising more money. It keeps them engaged, allows you to customize asks, and provides more communication throughout your campaign. And, we've found that those fundraisers that post campaign updates raise 3x more and have 4x as many repeat donors. To post an update:

  1. Log into your CrowdRise account Here and select the campaign you want to customize
  2. Head to your DASHBOARD and scroll down until you see the "Post Update" text editor
  3. Fill out the subject and body of the text editor with your update then click "Preview"
  4. A lightbox will appear, so you can view the update that your supporters will receive
  5. Either click "Publish" if it's ready to send, or click the X in the upper right corner of the lightbox to continue editing

Please note:

  • You won't be able to edit your update after it has been posted so make sure to proofread.
  • Your CrowdRise campaign update will post to your fundraiser to be viewed by all visitors to your page.
  • Your update will also automatically be emailed to all of your current donors.
  • Your donors can opt out of receiving your future campaign updates by following the link at the bottom of the campaign update email.

Make sure your notifications are set to receive donation email alerts. That way, you'll receive an alert to the email address associated with your CrowdRise account and be able to send easy Thank You notes to your donors.

To edit your campaign title please do the following:

  1. Log in to your CrowdRise account and select the campaign you want to customize
  2. Head to your DASHBOARD then click EDIT in the left navigation bar
  3. Under “Edit Campaign Info” header you’ll find the “Title” box which will allow you to enter a title of up to 100 characters
  4. Click the orange “Save” button to commit your changes

Please note:

  • Your original campaign title will dictate your URL. Updating your title will not affect your URL (a.k.a. web address or link). If you would like to edit your URL, you can do so separately.
  • If you are not the organizer of the fundraiser, you won't be able to change the title of your team member page.

To edit your campaign URL please do the following:

  1. Log in to your CrowdRise account and select the campaign you want to customize
  2. Head to your DASHBOARD then click EDIT in the left navigation bar
  3. Scroll down and click ADVANCED at the bottom of the page
  4. This will prompt a drop-down menu and you can select the CUSTOMIZE YOUR URL option
  5. You will see a place to enter your new URL. Once you are done, make sure to click SAVE to commit any changes
  6. If you are not able to click SAVE and see UNAVAILABLE in red, this means the URL is already in use and you must choose a different one.

Please note:

By changing your URL, your old URL, if previously shared with supporters, will be bad. Our Customer Support Team is able to create a redirect so any visitors clicking your old URL will be redirected to your new URL. Contact Us with the new and old URL's and we can take care of that super quick.

  1. Log in to your CrowdRise account and select the campaign you want to customize
  2. Head to your DASHBOARD then click EDIT in the left navigation bar
  3. Scroll down to the "Upload Pics and Videos" header and click the green "Add Photo" thumbnail
  4. Click "Choose" to browse your computer and select your photo, or drag and drop one from your desktop
  5. Adjust your photo height and size to meet your preference then click “Crop”

Please note:

  • You can upload up to 10 pictures and can drag the photos around to put them in the order you'd like to see them appear in your slideshow. If you decide you want to delete any of them, just click the X in the upper right of each picture

If you're experiencing anything strange while uploading your pictures, cheque out this Troubleshooting Article for tips.

Videos are an incredibly powerful tool when it comes to fundraising and will help you raise more money.

  1. First, upload the video you would like to use on your fundraising page onto YouTube or Vimeo
  2. Log in to your CrowdRise account and select the campaign you want to customize
  3. Head to your DASHBOARD then click EDIT in the left navigation bar
  4. Then scroll down to the “Upload Pics and Videos” header where you'll see a field that says “Add a YouTube or Vimeo link”
  5. Copy and paste the YouTube or Vimeo share URL (web address) into the box
  6. Then hit the orange “Save” button and your video will appear on your fundraising page

Please note:

  • Most people don’t watch videos for more than 25 seconds so the shorter the video, the better.
  • If you complete these steps and the video doesn't appear or an error message pops up, head back to YouTube or Vimeo and make sure your video settings are set to “Public” and “Embeddable” so they can be shared with CrowdRise and your supporters.

To update your goal please do the following:

  1. Log in to your CrowdRise account then select the campaign you want to customize
  2. Head to your DASHBOARD then click EDIT in the left navigation bar
  3. Locate the “Campaign Goal” header, set your target amount, then hit the orange “Save” button

Please Note:

  • There are no goal requirements or deadlines when you use CrowdRise for your fundraising. Setting a goal is a great idea and we do recommend it. It's great to have a target to talk about with your supporters. You can always edit your goal if you reach it or if it feels too lofty.
  • A goal gives you a chance to reach out to your supporters and let them know when you hit milestones and update them on how close you are to reaching your goal. We have definitely found that communicating with your supporters regularly leads to more momentum and more repeat donors.
  • With all that being said, if you do set a goal and don't reach it, Stand Up To Cancer still keeps all the money you raised. Every dollar makes a difference in the fight against cancer.

To update your story please do the following:

  1. Log in to your CrowdRise account then select the campaign you want to customize
  2. Head to your DASHBOARD then click EDIT in the left navigation bar
  3. Scroll down to the “Campaign Story” header where you'll be able to update your story using the text editor
  4. When everything is perfect, be sure to click on the orange "Save" button to make everything official

Please note:

  • The best campaign stories are concise, compelling, and explain why you’re passionate about Stand Up To Cancer. If you can explain where the donations will go and how they will help, that can really motivate people to give. People want to feel like they’re making an impact by getting involved.

The campaign story lives on the campaign page and is meant to tell people about your mission. We encourage you to make it as compelling as possible so those landing on the page feel compelled to donate.

The campaign update tool is one of the newest CrowdRise features and we’ve seen great success with it. With this tool, you’re able to post an update which is sent to everyone who has donated to your page. You can even add a picture or upload a video.

In here you can control the following settings:

  • If you want to allow others to join your campaign to help you fundraise or not
  • If you want the donation amounts to be visible to the public or not
  • You can edit the URL of your campaign (note: if you have already shared your campaign with your supporters, that link will no longer work once it is updated)
  • You can set a specific date to end your campaign so your DONATE button will disappear and stop receiving donations

Joining a campaign is easy. Participants can join your campaign by clicking the ‘Join the Team & Create Your Own Fundraiser’ button on the right side of the page. With the click of a button you’ll have a campaign set up and can help raise money in support of the cause.

Make sure to customize your campaign by personalizing the campaign story, uploading a few pictures and even a video. For information on adding pictures, videos and a campaign story cheque out the setting up your campaign blog post for more information.

You can get access to information on campaigns, teams, and donors through your report center.

  1. Log in to your CrowdRise account, select your campaign, then click on your DASHBOARD
  2. Click ADVANCED
  3. Click “Report Center”
  4. Select a ‘Report type’ and ‘Date range’ from the drop-down menus and click the orange ‘Run Report’ button
  5. Click the ‘Export Report’ button to download your report into an Excel spreadsheet

100% of the donations Stand Up To Cancer receives through CrowdRise fundraising events support its collaborative cancer research programs.  However, CrowdRise does charge a minimal fee for each donation processed, which the donor will be given the option to cover when they make their contribution.

Yes! Make checks payable to Stand Up To Cancer and send to the following address along with the Fundraiser Check Donation form. Once your check is received, please allow up to 15 business days for the donation to be added to your fundraising total on CrowdRise.

Stand Up To Cancer
P.O. Box 843721
Los Angeles, CA 90084-3721

If a donor writes a check to you instead of Stand Up To Cancer (SU2C) for your fundraiser, please endorse the back of the check with your signature and add ‘Payable to SU2C.’ We will then provide a tax receipt to the account holder named on the check.

We do not recommend this for two reasons:

  1. The IRS may consider this income and you could potentially be taxed.
  2. Since the check is coming from you and not directly from your donors, your donors will not receive tax receipts for their contributions.

It is best to have each donor write a check payable to Stand Up To Cancer for their desired amount, which you can then collect and mail in at one time with the Fundraiser Check Donation form. SU2C will then be able to generate tax receipts for each donor.

Unfortunately, we cannot accept cash donations. However, if you receive cash donations from different donors at your fundraiser, please convert these to a cashier’s check and mail to the below address along with the Cashier Check Donation form. Be sure to include each donor’s amount donated and personal contact information (name/address) with the cashier’s check so we can provide a tax receipt to each donor.

Unfortunately, we cannot generate a tax receipt for a business that donates goods or services to your fundraiser since the donation does not go directly to Stand Up To Cancer.

Yes, your donation is tax deductible to the fullest extent of the law and you will be emailed a receipt for U.S. tax purposes.
