Veterans Day and crowdfunding

on November 10, 2016

Veterans Day in the United States is commemorated on November 11th. The holiday honors all American veterans who have ever served their country. It is marked with parades and ceremonies across the nation - and is a day fully dedicated to giving thanks and remembering all the men and women who have put on the uniform in defense of our freedoms. While honoring veterans is a year-round duty of Americans, Veterans Day is a time for all of us to collectively say thank you.

Raising money around Veterans Day

Here at CrowdRise, we see charities and individuals raising money for veterans-related causes every day. And with Veterans Day right around the corner, we want to highlight some of the most amazing online fundraisers happening on the site right now.

Battle buddies

As George Shelton says on his fundraiser page: "I lost a great soldier due to PTSD, and he has a 1-year-old daughter that no longer has her dad. Let's all join together to help give her a future that I know her dad would've given her. RIP SGT Julio Garcia." So far, people have raised over $1,000 for his daughter, Lauren. It’s so amazing to see people come together and help people in their time of need.

Teammates through and through

Team RWB’S mission is to enrich the lives of America’s veterans by connecting them to their community through physical and social activity. They do this unifying events, such as taking the American flag across the country in a massive relay. Check out the video below.

In the last couple of years, Team RWB has raised over $1 million on CrowdRise to support their critical work. Happy Veterans Day, indeed.

Running, running, running

The mission of the Marine Corps Marathon is to promote physical fitness, generate community goodwill and showcase the organizational skills of the United States Marine Corps. It’s an amazing race - and a moving spectacle if you ever get the chance to see it in person. Just a couple of weeks ago, they had their 42nd running of it - and raised nearly $180,000 for charity on CrowdRise. How great is that?
