4 ways to make your fundraising campaign work harder at the end of the year

on December 17, 2018

With just a couple weeks left in 2018, we’ve got some quick tips you can use to maximize the last few days of the year. Not only are your supporters in the giving mood during the holiday season, but we’ve found that many of them are looking for new ways to help your organization reach its goals.

Here are four ways to help you make a bigger push these last weeks of the year.

infgrphc_powerShareTip #1 - Be consistent with your campaign updates

Your supporters want to know what’s going on, and that their contribution matters to your cause. Once they give, it’s important to keep them engaged and included throughout the entire campaign.

The more connected to your cause, the more invested they’ll feel, and the more likely they’ll come back and give or show their support again.

Use a communication tool such as our Campaign Update Tool to highlight milestones as you hit them, share goal updates, provide tangible impact reports, and give shout-outs to your superstar supporters.blg_capitalCampaign_2018_SeedMoney_In-blog-GraphicsTip #2 - Provide your supporters with a reason to give now

Use the structure of your campaign to provide your supporters with more reasons to give. For instance, are you involved in a match campaign? That could be used as a reason to reach out one more time and remind your supporters that there’s still time left to match and double their contribution.

Or, are you involved in a Challenge or another nonprofit competition? Use these unique campaigns to highlight where you’re at as a team, keep them up to date on upcoming contests, and ask them to give one more time to help you rise to the top.03_ShareAmounts-1Tip #3 - Don't forget about the power of the share

If you know CrowdRise by GoFundMe, you know that we’re passionate about the power of the share. And for good reason. 20% of donors who give also share the campaign page after completing their donation. And, the average donation amount from that share is $13.

These are incremental dollars from an untapped group of people that you would’ve had a very hard time getting to without your supporter, who they love and trust, singing your praises. So take advantage of the social nature of crowdfunding and make sure you’re using a platform that has baked-in social sharing features to make the most out of every action your supporter takes with your cause.scrnsht_campaignUpdate

Tip #4 - It’s that time of year again…

Not only is it a festive and wonderful time of year, but it’s also the end of tax season. And, as a matter of fact, 12% of all giving happens during the last three days of the year. Take this time to remind your supporters that the end of the year is fast approaching and, if they want to give before the end of the taxable season, now is the time.

Even though this is a really busy time of year with so much to do, it really is so important to remember how powerful these last few weeks can be for your organization. Thank your supporters, let them know how they can do more, and keep them up to date on your goals and aspirations for your cause. Chances are, with the right message, they’ll be ready to jump in and give again or share.
