CrowdRise Celebrates: Earth Day 2016

on April 20, 2016

Earth Day 2016 is on April 22nd. Here are a couple questions for you:

To be honest, we didn't know any of these, either. But isn't expanding our breadth of knowledge what life is all about?

Anyways, enough about that. Let's take a look at what some organizations and companies are doing to make the earth a better place, on Earth Day and beyond.

Apple Apps for Earth Day 2016

As could be expected, Apple launched a new Earth Day partnership this year. Most evident will be the green leaf on the Apple logo at more than 100 retail locations around the world.  But that leaf will also be on some of your favorite apps. Through April 24, Apple will donate 100% of the proceeds from 27 popular apps to the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) and its efforts to protect the environment from climate change. The apps include Kendall and Kylie Jenner's app, Map My Run+, and VSCO, will make up Apple's Apps for Earth collection.

Peachy KEEN

Outdoor footwear company KEEN has a documentary which, naturally, documents their cross-country road trip advocating for the protection of 3 million acres of public lands, which premieres on Earth Day 2016 in San Francisco. Check out the trailer here:

Fashionable Earth Day 2016 Looks

In view of the fast-approaching Earth Day 2016, fast-fashion house H&M wants to give you money for your old clothes. From April 18-24, the brand will give shoppers a 30 percent discount in exchange for outgrown, hole-ridden or no longer trendy garments. It aims to collect 1,000 tons of old clothes, which is 2,000,000 pounds, which is a lot of ugly clothes that your kids will for sure laugh at when they see a hologram of 2016 you in 2031.

Earth Day 2016 Volunteerism

Here is a very cool map with Earth Day 2016 events across the globe. You can see what's going on in your area if you get the volunteerism urge and/or marvel at the sheer scope of the mass mobilization of people around the world for Earth Day 2016.
